Justice Isn't Served Until Crime Victims Are

Attorney General Troy King and District Attorney Doug ValeskaEach year OVC helps lead communities across the country in their observances of National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW). The annual commemoration promotes victims' rights and services in all sectors of our society. This year's ceremony marks the 25th observance of National Crime Victims' Rights Week, first proclaimed by President Reagan in 1981.

To commemorate National Crime Victims Rights Week, candlelight vigils will be held across the state:

Sunday - April 10th 3 p.m.:: Dothan, Alabama 3012 West Main Street 1st Presbyterian Church.

Monday - April 11th 7 p.m.: Columbiana, Alabama 210 North Main Street (across from the courthouse).

Tuesday - April 12th 7 p.m.: Florence, Alabama at Wilson Park.

Wednesday: No vigils due to church services

Thursday - April 14nd 7 p.m.: Birmingham, Alabama The jury assembly room on the 2nd floor of the parking deck across from the Jefferson County Courthouse..

Friday: April 15rd 7 pm: Statewide Vigil Montgomery, Alabama In front of the Attorney General's Office, 500 Dexter Avenue.

Crime victims who have lost loved ones gathered for a VOCAL (Victims of Crime and Leniency) candlelight vicil Friday, April 23, at the Alabama Attorney General's Office in Montgomery.
